P200

I DIED
I die but my love does not die,
I shall love you in heaven
as I have on this earth.

P201 (French P337)

FOOTPRINTS
"Lord, You told me when I decided to follow You,
You would walk and talk with me all the way.
But I'm aware that during the most troublesome times of my life,
there is only one set of FOOTPRINTS.
I just don't understand why, when I need You most, you leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child,
I love you and will never leave you,
during your time of trials and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints,
IT WAS THEN THAT I CARRIED YOU."

P202

ALWAYS WITH US
Your gentle face and pleasant smile
With sadness we recall.
You had a kindly word for each
and died beloved by all.
The voice is mute and stilled the heart.
That loved us well and true,
Ah, bitter was the trial to part
From one so good as you
You are not forgotten, loved one
Nor will you ever be.
As long as life and memory last
We will remember thee.
We miss you now, our hearts are sore
As time goes by, we miss you more.
Your loving smile, your gentle face.
No one can fill your vacant place.

P203 (French P336)

MISS ME, BUT LET ME GO
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little--but not too long
And not with your head bowed low;
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go.

For this journey that we all must take
And each must go alone;
It's all a part of the Master's plan,
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me, but let me go.

P204

REMEMBER ME
His/Her good character and the kindness of
his/her heart has won the affection of
his/her loved ones
He/She was loved by all. Those who knew
him/her, have honoured him/her with their
esteem, and have expressed it with sympathies
after his/her death.
His/Her death has left a profound wound
in our hearts.
Remember me, friends, as I have done
the will of the Lord.

P205

I MUST LEAVE YOU
When I must leave you for a little while,
please go on bravely with a gallant smile
and for my sake and in my name,
live on and do all the things the same.
Spend not your life in empty days,
but fill each waking hour in comfort and cheer,
and I in turn, will comfort you and hold you near.

P206

UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your fields
And until we meet again
may the God that loves us all
Hold you in the palm of His hand.

P207

SERENITY PRAYER
O Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things
I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

P208 (French P327)

I HAVE LIVED
I have lived-
God knows that I have lived.
I have loved-
and in return have been loved.
I have given-
and received a hundredfold.
I have suffered-
and kept the pain within myself.
I have searched-
and with your help have found.
I have accepted-
and borne it with a smile.
And now, for you, dear God.
I have died.

P209

MY LOVED ONES
My loved ones, my pilgrimage on earth
is over. Do not forget me. Stay united
in eternity. Dear Lord, protect those I leave behind.

P210 (French P331)

23rd PSALM (The Lord is my shepherd)

The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want;
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters;
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death, I fear no evil;
for Thou are with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the
presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my
head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely
goodness and mercy shall follow me all the
days of my life; and I will dwell in the house
of the Lord forever.

P211 (French P304)

MY CHILDREN
My children, I died. I am leaving this valley.
I beg you, never forget me! Stay united among
yourselves, stay firm in our faith. Soon we
shall be reunited in heaven. I died but my love
does not die. I shall love you in heaven as I
have on this earth.

P212

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
You’re gone but not forgotten as dawns another
day. All the tears we have cried for you will
never go away. The Lord took you to his Mansion
to let you rest in peace. He will leave the golden gates open until we meet again.

P213

WE WATCHED YOU SUFFER
We watched you suffer day by day,
and could not help in any way,
but just stood by and saw you pass
into our Saviour’s arms at last.
In tears we watched you sinking,
we watched you fade away.
Our hearts were almost broken
you fought so hard to stay.
But when we saw you sleeping
so peacefully, free from pain,
we could not wish you back to
suffer that again.

P214

AFTERGLOW
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles
when the day is done. I’d like to leave an echo,
whispering softly down the ways.
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days. I’d like the
tears of those who grieve to dry before
the sun and to remember happy memories
that I leave behind when the day is done.

P215

CARDINAL PRAYER
May the Lord support us
all the daylong
Till the shadows lengthen
and the evening comes,
and the busy world is hushed,
and the fever of life is over
and our work is done!
Then in His mercy
may He give us a safe lodging,
and a holy rest, and
peace at the last!

P216

HEAVEN’S GATE
Heaven’s gate swung gently open,
God called softly, “come”
And you, dear one, took God’s hand,
and your work on earth was done.
We’ll never cease to miss you,
and shed many silent tears,
because we cannot share with you
our hopes, our joys, our fears.
But one day, in Gods garden,
when God calls us to come.
You’ll be at the gates with open arms
and say to us, “welcome home!”

P217

GOD’S HAND
Down a road that’s calm and peaceful,
guided by God’s loving hand,
She/He has gone upon a journey
to a distant, brighter land.
And although our hearts are heavy
with sorrow we still bear,
it helps to bring us comfort,
knowing she/he is happy there.

P218

CHANNEL OF YOUR PEACE
Make me a channel of your peace. Where there is hatred let me bring your love. Where there is injury your pardon, Lord, and where there is doubt, true faith in you. Where there is despair let me bring your hope. Where there is darkness only light, and where there is sadness ever joy.

O, Master grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand.
To be loved, as to love with all my
soul.

Make me a channel of your peace. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned. In giving to all men that we receive, and in dying that we are born to eternal life.

P219

A MILLION TIMES
A million times I’ve needed you,
a million times I’ve cried,
if love could have saved you,
you never would have died.
Things we feel most deeply
are the hardest things to say.
My dearest one, I love you,
in a very special way.
If I could have one lifetime wish
one dream that could come true,
I’d pray to God with all my heart
For yesterday and you.

P220 (French P306)

AROUND HIS GARDEN
God looked around his garden
And He found an empty place.
He then looked down upon his earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew that you were in pain
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough,
So he closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered “Peace be thine”
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

P221

FATHER
God made a wonderful father,
A father who never grows old,
He made his heart out of gold;
He made him as near as an angel,
As anyone ever could be;
God made a wonderful father,
And gave that dear father to us.

P222

DON’T STAND AT MY GRAVE
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glint on snow,
I am the sunset on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.

When you awaken in the mornings hush,
I am the sweet uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die.

P223

WE MISS THEE
We miss thee from our home dear.
We miss thee from thy place.
A shadow o’er our life is cast.
We miss the sunshine of thy face.
We miss thy kind and willing hand
Thy fond and earnest care.
Our home is dark without thee.
We miss thee everywhere.

P224

NO BREAKING HEART
No breaking heart is here,
No sad and chilling pain:
No wasted cheeks where the frequent tear
Rolls down and leaves its stain.
Dear friends of mortal years,
The trusted and the true,
You are watching still in the valley of tears,
But I wait to welcome you.
I won’t forget, O no!
For memory’s golden chain
Shall bind my heart to the hearts below
Till we meet to touch again.
Each link is strong and bright.
And love’s eternal flame,
Flows freely down, like a river of light
To the world from where I came.

P225

ECCLESIASTES
To everything there is a purpose
and a time to every purpose
under the heaven
A time to be born
and a time to die
A time to plant
and a time to reap
A time to laugh
and a time to weep
A time to embrace
and a time to not embrace
A time to speak
and a time to be silent
A time to love
and a time to hate
A time of war
and a time of peace.

P226 (French P328)

I’LL BE THERE
When I leave you don’t weep for me.
Pass the wine around and remember
how my laughing pleased you.
Look at one another, smiling,
and don’t forget about touching.
Sing the songs that I loved best
and dance one time all together.
As for me, I’ll be off, running
somewhere on the beach, and I’ll fly
to the top of the tree I always meant to climb
When you’re ready, I’ll be there –
Waiting for you
Take your time

P227 (French P302)

I WROTE YOUR NAME
We wrote your name in the grains of the sand.
But the tide rolled and washed it away.
We carved your name on the trunk of a tree.
But eventually the bark dried and fell away.
We treasured your name in the very depths of our hearts.
And even time itself could not steal your memory away.

P228

PERHAPS
Perhaps you sent a lovely card
or sat quietly in a chair
Perhaps you sent a funeral spray,
if so we saw it there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words.
As any friend could say.
Perhaps you were not there at all.
Just thought of us that day.
What ever you did to console our hearts
Thank you so much whatever the part

P229

GOD SAW YOU
God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be.
So he closed his arms around you
And whispered “ Come to Me”

You didn’t deserve what
You went through,
So He gave you a rest.
God’s Garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best.

And when we saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain,
We could not wish you back,
To suffer that again.

P230 (French P300)

LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever.

Amen.

P231

ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI
Lord make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.
Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal
life.

P232

WHEN MY SOUL TAKES FLIGHT
Lord, when my soul takes flight,
May it rise swiftly to live forever
In your love and care.

P233

WHEN I’M GONE
When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile,
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile.
Forget unkind words I have spoken;
Remember some good I have done,
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I’ve had loads of fun.
Forget that I stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought
Some hard battles
And won, ere the close of the day,
Then forget to grieve for my going,
I would not have you sad for a day,
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay,
And come in the evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best.

P234

LOVING HUSBAND
Console yourself, dear wife,
you were my happiness on earth.
I will love you in heaven as
I loved you on earth.
I accepted the will of God,
I saw death coming with
calm and courage, that gave me faith.
Why cry my departure
since death is an end to my suffering.
My dear children, do not forget me,
you have love, prove to me that you
will still love me by taking care
of your mother.
O my God bless my family and
be the protector of my children.
Have mercy on those whom
I leave on earth,
Protect them and save them.
Almighty God,
Grant me eternal rest.

P235

LITTLE ANGELS
When God calls little children
To dwell with Him above,
We mortals sometimes question
the wisdom of His love. For no heartache compares
With the death of one small child
Who does so much to make our world
Seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to His fold,
So He picks a rosebud before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them,
And so He takes but a few,
To make the land of heaven more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult still somehow we must try
The saddest word mankind knows
Will always be “Goodbye.”
So when a little child departs, we who are
Left behind,
Must realize God loves children,
Angels are hard to find.

P236

HAIL MARY
Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with thee;
Blessed art thou amongst women,
And blessed is the fruit
Of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour
Of our death. Amen.

P237

TAPS
Day is done, gone the sun
From the lake, from the hill, from the sky.
All is well, safely rest, God is night.
Thanks and praise for our days
neath the sun, neath the stars,
neath the sky,
As we go, this we know, God is night.

P238

LOVE POEM
Love is patient,
Love is kind.
It does not envy,
It does not boast,
It is not proud.
It is not rude,
It is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,
It keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil
But rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, Always trust,
Always hopes, Always perseveres

P239

I AM YOUR GOD
So do not fear,
For I am with you;
Do not be dismayed,
For I am your God.
I will strengthen you
And help you;
I will uphold you with
My righteous right hand.

P240

ON EAGLE’S WINGS
And He will raise you up
On eagle’s wings,
Bear you on
The breath of dawn,
Make you to shine-
Like the sun,
And hold you in the palm
of His hand.

P241

ANGLER’S PRAYER
God grant that I may live to fish,
Until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray,
When in the Lord’s safe landing net,
I’m peacefully asleep,
That in his mercy I be judged,
As big enough to keep.

P242

I’M FREE
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God laid for me,
I took His hand I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that place at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times,
A loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief;
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now, He set me free.

P243
